Great Horned Owl, North Scottsdale, permanent residents, the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center, tour
I “finally” was able to secure a tour of the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center in North Scottsdale. This particular tour was a full moon tour on the evening of May 14! One drawback, forgot to bring my flash to photograph the many, many animals who are permanent residents in this magnificent sanctuary: mountain lions, Mexican gray wolves, bobcats, coyotes, coatimundi, black bear, porcupines, foxes, and many more! I did manage to capture this great horned owl! I also discovered the great horned owl weighs only 2-3lbs, has hollow bones and its wings do NOT make a sound when diving for its prey. Isn’t it beautiful?
