Visited Hassayampa Preserve to attend a class “Birding 102-The B’s, C’s and D’s of Beginning Birding. Beaks, Behavior, Calls and Diet.”  After class we (a few) were invited by the instructor to spend extra time walking the preserve.  We were informed by another experienced birder in the Preserve to be on the look-out for the American Bittern, an elusive bird.  Well…due to the keen eye of a fellow birder we were able to view this amazing bird which was practically hidden in the reeds! We stood watching this gorgeous creature for a very long time!  Following are photos captured during the sighting.  Enjoy!
