Friends (husband/wife) organized this spectacular 6-mile hike in the South Mountain Park on Saturday.  The Alta Trail “is considered one of the most challenging trails within South Mountain Park.”  When one reaches the ridgeline, the views are spectacular! AND, yes, the views of the West valley were absolutely spectacular (Estrella Mountains). The trail is rated “very difficult” – the elevation is about 1,100 feet in the first mile but it is a great workout!
