Ah! Available for viewing in the Desert Botanical Garden is the Cardon cactus; from Baja California and looks like the Saguaro. It is HUGE; its branches are from the base. Its flowers are large white waxy petals but its fruit (as seen) is reddish and nearly spherical, and rich in pectin. It is often used to make jellies. Another reason to visit the Garden!
